  5. This file provides information for Shareware Distributors and Disk Vendors
  6. who wish to distribute the WinZip 6.0 package, including an extract from
  7. the license agreement and suggested program descriptions and keywords.

  11. The complete license agreement is contained in the file LICENSE.TXT.

  13. The following paragraph is an extract from the license agreement
  14. regarding the distribution of the Shareware version of WinZip:

  16.     You are specifically prohibited from charging, or requesting
  17.     donations, for any such copies, however made; and from distributing
  18.     the software and/or documentation with other products (commercial or
  19.     otherwise) without prior written permission, with one exception:
  20. --> Disk Vendors approved by the Association of Shareware Professionals
  21. --> are permitted to redistribute WinZip, subject to the conditions in
  22. --> this license, without specific written permission.

  35. WinZip brings the convenience of Windows to the use of ZIP files.
  36. Windows 95, Windows NT, and Windows 3.1 versions are available.
  37. Includes PKZIP-compatible built-in zip and unzip, so PKZIP is not needed
  38. for basic archive operations, and built-in support for popular Internet
  39. file formats:  TAR, gzip, and Unix compress.

  41. WinZip includes a powerful yet intuitive point-and-click drag-and-drop
  42. interface for viewing, running, extracting, adding, deleting, and
  43. testing files in ZIP, LZH, and ARC files, including self extracting
  44. archives.  Optional virus scanning support is included.

  46.                               Requirements

  48. The 32-bit version requires Windows 95 or Windows NT.  The 16-bit
  49. version requires Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups.  No other
  50. programs are are required for basic ZIP operations.  Optional features
  51. require external programs, including the shareware PKZIP/PKUNZIP product
  52. from PKWARE, Inc. or ARJ from Robert Jung or LHA.EXE from Haruyasu
  53. Yoshizaki.  WinZip interfaces to several programs to access ARC files
  54. and optionally runs most virus scanning utilities, including
  55. Windows-based virus scanners.
